ICON is quick, comfortable and usually needs no anaesthetic. Here's what happens:

Clean & prepare. The tooth is cleaned and isolated to keep the area dry.

Etch. A gentle etching gel is applied to the white spot to open up the porous surface layer, so the resin can penetrate.

They're incredibly common and usually caused by fluorosis (too much fluoride during childhood), white marks left behind after braces, enamel hypoplasia or hypomineralisation (developmental defects), or early demineralisation.
